Just sitting here ... wonderin' ...

My trip to Virginia was good. Starting my masters classes up again this fall has been added work, too. But I have no excuse for not posting over the past week. I was wondering what to post today when I came across this picture. I think she's wonderin', too.

This weekend, my son won a couple baseball games, lost for the first time in football (although he played well and scored - and it was a good game: last second TD by the other team). My daughter must've enjoyed herself because she's been in a great mood the past two days.

I'll be anxious to see what pictures are on the camera so I can post some visual references. I think my wife said something about pictures of my son playing infield! Until then, you'll have to accept the 'wondring baby' as my first post in a week - because I cannot and will not reference the events of MNF on this blog (too horrible to even think they were real).

Fall Ball

So, the boy plays LF for the first inning of every game 1 (double-headers every Sunday)

The boys he plays with are mostly 2-3 years older than him, but he holds his own

May not hit it as far, but he knows what he's doing. 1-5 so far with 2 walks and a HBP

He pitches an inning each weekend, too

He doesn't look small out there

And, even better, he looks comfortable - like he belongs on the bump

This weekend they beat the Orioles and the Cubs

Did I mention that they're the Yankees?

I'm not sure why we don't have pictures of him playing infield

He plays two innings of SS and one inning of 2B every weekend, too, but he looks good at-bat, doesn't he?!

Needs to work on his base-running - after all, this would be his first kid-pitch league

So far on the hill, he's thrown two scoreless innings. 4 K's, 0 BB's, 3 hits, total of 7 balls thrown - 'strike machine'?

I have to admit that he looks like a natural catcher, too.
Thanks for the new chest-protector and shin-guards, Grandma and Grandpa!

Birthday weekend for my boy

The big boy turned nine this weekend and I'm pretty sure he had a blast. His fruebd had a birthday party on Friday, so we celebrated my son's birthday most of Saturday - with family presents, a trip to Target Field for a Twins game, and a sleepover with a few buddies. Breakfast on Sunday morning, a visit from Grandma and Grandpa (my parents), and a fall-ball double-header completed the weekend of fun.

A 'big' jar of pickles from his sister. Her idea! I think he likes it ;)

Not sure whether she's grumpy or just acting. She enjoyed the rally in the 9th - that's for sure!

Nice seats in the sun for the us boys.

Of course, the silly girls sat next us, too :)

When is it necessary to include the fire marshall in your birthday plans?
Nine candles is making me think my boy is getting too big too quick.

Although only the boys came for the sleepover, some girls in the neighborhood ended up joining us for the cake.
It was a fun night, all in all. Happy Birthday, big boy!

And if you're wondering, he loved EVERYBODY's gifts ... however, this might've been the most special this year ...

Happy Birthday to my Big Boy!

My son turns nine today. It is hard to believe that nine years ago we helped a beautiful little baby boy come into the world. He has shown me exactly what my calling is in this world - that is for sure. I can't imagine being anything else but a daddy to him and his sister. Today, we celebrate his uniqueness, his caring nature, his competitiveness, his affection for games and sports, his desire to read - to explore - to learn, his love of family and friends, and his continual need to grow as a person.

Happy Birthday, Buddy!

that's his rear-end there ... playing center for the first half offense

got to play some DT for second half defense

 shoulda had  a sack!

QB for second half offense ... (but only a few plays because of the way the rotations fell - more defense)

looks good under center, though! ;)

Nice win, Crimson! Good luck next weekend!
